I've been hearing either construction workers or truckers using this frequency (154.100) about 6:30 am several mornings. It sounds like they are mobile working simplex.
I have this shown as a fire frequency, so I'm wondering if its assigned for any other use?
Located near 402 close to the Lambton/Middlesex boundary.

I'm here a lot
I also heard something similar, I am 3kms north of the 401 in western Toronto. There was a PL tone used but I never locked it in. I heard them yesterday morning.

They were talking about Challenger which is a big truck yard in Mississauga and how busy the 401 was.. Not sure if related. Maybe they are on their way back and forth from Toronto to Michigan.

I have heard truckers using LADD channels and some other Canadian frequencies in the 162-174 range here in Texas. Most of the time they sound like Canadians but not always.

nd5y. Ahh yes Snow Mexicans. For those out of the loop look up bonehead truckers on YouTube.

Using out of region radios is a common issue in the industry. The 154.100 use is yet another example. Most of the time its just guys travelling through an area other times is someone setting up business on a freq.
There is little to no enforcement or penalties so the situation continues to occur more and more often. Over the counter radios like Baofeng just add to the situation. I cannot see any practical solution.
My personal opinion is find the radio and sledgehammer it. That will maybe send the message it certainly will remove the interference for a period of time. I am not advocating going out and doing this, it's just a wishful fantasy.

To be honest most of this type of situation is from users that have no idea that there are regulations or that they are causing an issue or doing anything wrong. Let's not all become the radio police.

Sound like Canadians? You guys have the accent, not us! 😁
Most of of them sound like regular Canadians (with no accent).
Some of them sound like stereotypical trailer trash hosers.
A few of the sound like regular Americans from midwest or western states. (when I was a kid in the Kansas City area nobody had an accent. When I moved to Texas when I was 12 they said I talked like a damn Yankee).
I haven't heard any yet that sound like Texans or from the southeast (accents like Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam or Speedy Gonzales).

A couple weeks ago I heard 2 truckers, obvious Canadian based on accents, using 154.10 traveling while through the western Minneapolis suburbs. At first I couldn't figure it out since a local county uses 154.10 as their fire main dispatch. Then it dawned on me that it's LADD channel 1 which we of course is not specifically a US allocation. Quite a novelty to hear truckers communicating on VHF high band.

It's also the Oxford County Fire paging dispatch
Our local department used to use it as their main Ops channel in CSQ. Now that they've switched to digital, they're using it as a mobile repeater frequency. Guess they got tired of listening to the truckers.

I've had this frequency in my programming for quite some time now in my unconfirmed vhf list. I also have an entry with PL 136.5 for whatever it's worth.

I don't hear much on it, but it does pop up from time to time. I'm only about 4 kms from Hwy 17 (East-West TransCanada Hwy) and Renfrew is at the junction of Hwy 60 and Hwy 132 as well. So trucks can pretty much come from any direction through this area.

Judging by TAFL listings for the channel, take your pick of possible random users. :p Could be anyone.

I know up my way I have logging channels that are active, but they're active repeaters. One of them also using one of the DMR systems in the area.
They tend to stay to those systems or the CB. Guess it wouldn't hurt to make up a section for these type of LADD frequencies. You never know what might show up. How often are transports from out west travelling east?

Which reminds me about of one of the convoys that came through here onwards to Parliament Hill and they had been using those channels.
