Useing A TV antenna amplifier Question

I was just wondering if a person can use a TV amplifier on a scantenna will it work? The TV amplifier i'm looking at covers 50-900MHz or do i need to get one thats for a scanner if there is a such thing?

Yes, it will work, but not as well as an actual scanner amplifier. There are scanner anplifiers on the market, and most of them work well. GRE has a model out called the "SuperAmplifier". It's a favorite among scanner listeners. It's intended to be used with a handheld, but can be used on base scanners as well.

Keep in mind, when you put an amp in line, you're going to be bringing in more noise as well. The amplifier just amplifies what the antenna hears, so it's not going to be a magic black box that turns a signal overran with static into something crystal clean.

I've used TV amps before, and like said, they DO work, to an extent, but not as well as a actual scanner amp is going to.
