Has anyone identified the new USFS LE repeater outputs in the NC/VA area? Regular USFS traffic has been P25 in VA for some time now, and I am assuming that the LE sites have been reprogrammed to move them in line with the new(ish) NTIA bandplan.

Haven't heard 168.025 come up in several years now, nor have I heard them on 172.400 if they flipped the input/output. I saw a reference to 172.5125 being active in central TN, but nothing on that over this way either.

Sorry for the delayed response, my "job" right now is a series of dozens of interruptions 24 hours a day. I have a R8 LE net page I found in my dear late Hubby's notebooks. It lists 168.025 repeaters in Kentucky, North Carolina and Virginia. The input was 172.4000 and I'm wondering if they now use it for the output and assigned a new input freq that is below 166.5000 so as to comply with this years NTIA allocation deadline. Some other NPS, BLM and USFS nets have followed this method. Many of those had inputs that were 600 kHz higher or lower than the output, then 1-5 years ago changed the input to something that would comply with the 2019 NTIA deadline for an output freq. Give 172.4000 a try.

All these regional LE nets are supposed to be encrypted at some point and they might have done that with this change. That requires new equipment and maybe for now they can't afford it, so everything might be in the clear.

EDIT I see the repeaters on the list are all analog except 4 of them on the George Washington/Jefferson NF and those are all P-25. If the remainder all go digital, it would seem that encryption could follow very soon.

Thank you for the information.

Do you have any tone/NAC information?

I heard some analog simplex traffic on 168.025 on the parkway Saturday near Lexington. Couldn't get a tone but 131.8 has been reported before.

I started to type up the info I have on the R8 LE Radio System. After completing a few lines I realized that I should not post such info on the forum. I will send you a message.

I just replied to your reply! I tried a private conversation with ecps92 and hopefully that works. It wouldn't let me send him a message. All who have made a request please excuse any delay in responding. I've let you know why in my replies.

Uh Oh! Did I send you a message? It's so hard to remember anything in my circumstances. As a late friend often said "I'm as busy as a one armed paper hanger with his pants falling down!"

I should also say that people who request a copy of the info, please don't submit it to the database. Doing so results in more pressure to encrypt.
