Just wondering, since Cali is earthquake prone,.. does anyone know if the USGS has a radio network set up, and what they use?

Hmm...interesting question.

Poking around on the internet, there is the "Redwood City Public Seismic Network" which captures data from USGS sites - according to their system diagram (http://psn.quake.net/block.html) they are listening to links in the 160 MHz and 406 MHz ranges.

TYVM! :) I hope to have a digital capable scanner by then to monitor LACSO, LAPD and the other digital stuff in Cali, but if not at least I can still hear CHP, and the USGS, and a few other things out there.
