I have an Icom PCR1000 radio. The control software for the radio requires Windows. It does not run under the wine program in linux (wine allows you to run windows software in linux). There are several DOS based programs for controlling radios. One of them is PCSCAN (and PCSCANV). This runs perfectly in the linux dosbox program. The dosbox creates a dos shell running in a window. The only change I had to make in the config file for dosbox is to set the com port for com1 to point to the appropriate tty device.

I assume that most, if not all, DOS based radio control programs will work in linux using dosbox but I've only tried PCSCAN so far.
