Using Multiple Headsets

I hope this is the correct place to post this general question. My wife & I follow Indycar around the US. We currently have a BC125AT scanner, a splitter and 2 basic headsets with standard plugs. We would like to be able to talk to each other during use without having to a) move an earpiece, and b) without screaming at each other! Can we use the type of headsets with microphones/push to talk in the current setup and talk while listening? Is this possible as we currently are equipped or is there some other way to do this? And if 'some other' how would we go about that while still listening to the drivers/teams? Thanks in advance!!
