If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Seeking information regarding configuration required for communication between NXU-2A and Kenwood NX-700 mobile radio. Use case = NXU-2A is an IP front end for a Kenwood radio. Have software that will interface with NXU-2A to key up radio channel. Only single NXU-2A required.

Current issue = it appears there is no communication between NXU-2A and NX-700.

Purchased connection cable from JPS. So I do not believe that to be the issue.

Configuration of the NXU. Used same config to connect to another radio model. Is there a parameter that is required to change for an NX-700 environment?
77702

Is there any programming in the NX-700 required to communicate through the ACC (DB25) port?

Any recommendations are welcome.

Yes, you need to set up the audio input and PTT on the NX-700.

Under the "Extended Function" page….
On the AUX tab, you need to assign your PTT function to one of the I/O ports. Which one will depend on how the radio to NXU2A cable is set up.
On the Modulation Line tab, you'll need to MI2 or DI line, depending on your setup. Switch it from "disconnect" (default) to connect.

Are you using the adapter to go between the NXU and the supplied cable? if you did not install that it will not work.
I have this setup, and you have to use all the supplied parts that came in the box.

EXT FUNC>, AUX TAB;
pin 4, output, COR, HIGH
pin 13, input, ext ptt VOICE

Thanks for the replies!

Yes I am using the serial cable supplied by JPS with the adapter. You can see the attached cable pin-out. I have not verified which pins the adapter is "crossing".

I will look into the suggested radio configuration.

@kd4efm Are there default settings you can recommend for the NXU config?

Edit above (apparently there is a 5 min windows that I missed)
You can see the attached cable pin-out. Based on the documentation pin 6 = MI2 (MIC Signal Input).

not really, contact JPS Tech support, I will be working on AvTech units Friday with outpost units.
Using JPS voting reciever to mash all the way-points and CP's for a local railroad.
Outpost to JPS, JPS to remote sites, with NXU's.
I will see what we have for settings and let you know.

By the way, follow the paper, even though it says TKx180 series, follow the guide and you will come out okay.
