Posting on the forums, when I use the quote button it doesn't post the quote in the shaded box like I see on other posts.
Am I doing something wrong or is there a trick to it ?
I am knowledgeable about scanners but by computer skills are somewhat limited. Thanks.

Which quote button are you using?

The one in the bottom right corner of the post includes the relevant text and you can edit out what you don't want to quote.

The one in the post reply box only inserts the quote code, no text. You have to copy and paste the text you want quoted between the brackets. ] here [

It sounds like you are using the "wrap quote tags around selected text" button inside the reply box. Using that button is fine, but you must first highlight the text you wish to put inside the quote box before clicking that button.

The easiest way to quote is to use the quote button contained inside of a previous post box. When you click that button, the text from that post is automatically inserted into the reply box with the proper quote tags around it. It also will automatically include the username of the member you are quoting and a link to the original post (the little blue arrow to the right of the quoted person's username).

If you use the "wrap quote tags" button, it will only put a quote box around the selected text (or by themselves, if you did not highlight any text first), it will not include the username or post links (although you can manually type this information in manually if you want).
