• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I was searching through the forums & saw someone mention the UT-109 Scrambler for other Icom radios & I remember 'years' ago when I purchased my Icom IC-2000H, the manual had the 109 as an option for that radio.. A scrambler for a ham radio??
I purchased the radio from an authorized Icom ham radio dealer too.. Did I somehow get an export radio or something?? I know I still have the original box & manual packed away in the attic & one day I'll have ta go dig it out... I've tried to find the UT-109 mentioned in the online pdf manuals for the radio on various sites but the page I remember for the scrambler in my manual, doesn't seem to be mentioned in the others.. Anyone else ever own this radio?? Thanks, Al

I am looking at a downloaded pdf user manual for the IC-2000H on page 42(options list)
and the UT-109 is not listed. I only see the UT-85 Tone Squelch Unit and the UT-101
which is a DTMF Unit. The copyright date on the back cover of this manual is 1994.

Also a peek into the service manual only shows the same two UT modules above.

Me thinks your (not your radios) memory is perhaps a bit fuzzy. :)

The Icom V8000 will also work with the UT-109. Some Dealers will install these into ham radios if requested. I dont know why you would want them but yes bottom line is they will work in some of the ICom Ham radios

Must be an undocumented compatability. Is the UT-109 plug n play for the V8000 or do you have to wire it into the radio?

Is there an online link/reference info for this?
