I have moved UtahRadio.org to a new server. Please let me know if you experience any issues with it.

Known issues:
- The RSS/twitter feeds aren't working right just yet. By the way - who "owns" the UtahAlerts twitter account any how? Integration with the web site is a little 'off.' I also have a private request asking for access to it.

I thought Utah Viper ran it or someone who ended up moving out of state...

I sent a private request for access to the UtahAlerts months ago and haven't ever heard a thing. Maybe time to start another twitter feed and give access to active listeners. It seems to go days without any posts and then gets a few random ones here and there.

I'll keep an eye out for any issues with the wiki. Looks like Twitter changed their API again. A while back they changed the twitter integration to use https. I wonder if they changed back?

I've been thinking about this for months. The times are changing. I hate to say it, but maybe it is time to consider not publicly broadcasting or reporting public safety activity. There is a school of thought that believes information should be kept secret. This school believes open information is bad for society because it exposes our weaknesses. They believe it makes us vulnerable. The argument is that we have so many weaknesses that we can't possibly secure them. Therefore, we need to keep it quiet.

I 100% disagree with that notion. Secrecy is not security. Opening information forces us to become stronger. It exposes weaknesses so we shore them up and turn them in to strengths. It does temporarily expose us. It is that exposure that moves us to action. I am finding that belief puts me in the minority these days. I haven't decided if I should surrender or fight yet. Perhaps the battle is already over and I am in denial.

Don't surrender the fight yet. :) If public safety activity is no longer publicly reported, then the newspapers, tv, and radio news outlets would have a lot less to report on.

I must admit, I have gone back and forth on the streaming issue. It's frustrating to give radio salesmen any more ammunition than they already have to sell expensive secretive radio systems. But, at least most recently, I've embraced the streaming idea. At least to share amongst radio hobbyists.

On a different note - the Twitter 1.0 API was deprecated in June which is why the feed on the wiki no longer works. It appears that v1.1 requires OAuth authentication and no longer supports RSS. So, it's probably above my abilities to get it working again. I totally understand if you don't want to have it on anymore too. If you do want to continue it, I'm also willing to set up a group tweet twitter account that we can give to those who might be interested in contributing.

Thanks again for hosting the wiki. There's still lots of good information to share and it's nice to have.

I still have yet to hear anything on Utahalerts.
Lets get something new going that someone in Utah or someone that is paying attention can control.

I tweet my own little stuff for Utah County. I wish we could break it up by area,
sometimes utahalerts is to far and outside of my listening area.

Any ideas on how to proceed?
