I recently got back into scanning and got a BCD996P2. I manually programmed a number of frequencies only without ID data. I'm thinking of getting ProScan. My question is whether I should delete/clear all the frequencies I manually programmed in and start new with the RadioReference database and ProScan input exclusively. Tips or suggestions are more than welcome. TIA!

Your call. Why not? You already have the needed RR premium sub & Proscan is IMHO the best companion app to utilize it. You can also sort objects alphabetically, numerically by frequency, etc to greater organize favorites lists, systems, groups, channels, etc to make finding them in your scanner a bit easier

I hardly ever use the alpha tags from the RR database. The tags are often longer than what can be displayed on the scanner, so I edit or rewrite them for a quick look.
What I can say is do the programming so it fits your needs at your location. Depending where you are and what you are listening to, the database may have more than is needed on an average day to day basis, it slows the scan rate down.
And lastly, You will continue to fine tune the programming for weeks or months to come. There is no perfect programming the first time.
Enjoy proscan, I do

Yep, you’ve got the best of both worlds. After you get the PROSCAN (or any other) program installed simply do a write from the scanner to the program. Then, if you choose, create a new program, decide which one you like better and use that one.
