I swear I saw a post where someone said they heard bus traffic on one of the frequencies assigned to CEMEX. I have been listening to 452.750 (CEMEX-5 in the database) and it is definitely bus traffic, unless a cement mixer is picking up passengers at bus stops and throwing sleeping drunks off the late night buses...
I can't believe that this is the only bus channel but I don't see any others listed. If someone could check out the frequency and verify if they hear bus traffic as well I'd appreciate it. So far (besides the drunk issue) I have heard driver reassignments, vagrant calls (asking for PD to check out someone hanging around or sleeping at a bus stop), a call for service for a broken down bus and a frantic call from a driver that said their bus was on fire on the side of I-10 near Chandler Blvd. I then heard the call go out to DPS and the fire department. The bus really WAS on fire and leaking LPG. Got the fire boys all sorts of excited... ;- )

Within the license posted by John, there are 4 freqs:

452.625 - Data
452.725 146.2 PL - Voice
452.750 146.2 PL - Voice
452.850 - Data

These are definitely all in use by Valley Metro. I'm not sure if there are other frequencies.

I monitored the frequencies in the previous list for a few hours and the list is correct. 452.625 has intermittant data transmissions while 452.850 is constant data.
Both 452.725 and 452.750 had bus related voice traffic.
On 452.725 I heard a driver call in and complain that some "stupid drunk" took a "wee wee" in the back of his bus. He asked the dispatcher if he could go to the yard to get it cleaned out. Dispatch said no as he couldn't leave his route and to clean it up as best he could. He told the dispatcher he wasn't touching it no matter what. Can't say I blame him... ;- )

Update on the "wee wee" problem... ;- )
The driver called in that the riders were complaining and it was too big a mess for him to clean up. The dispatcher told him to hold on--he would see if he could get another bus out there. After a couple minutes the driver was told there was no replacement bus available and to take his bus to the yard where a cleaning crew would be standing by.

Whew, another bullet dodged by the brave men and women of the mass transit system... ;- P

I wouldn't want their job for anything.

Valley Metro Bus Frequency Assignments

Unless frequencies or assignments have changed, my records show the following:

452.625 - Data
452.725 (146.2) - Phoenix North Garage, operated by Veolia Transportation
452.75 (146.2) - Phoenix South Garage, operated by Veolia Transportation
452.80 - Not used
452.825 - Data
463.20 (146.2) - Phoenix West Garage, operated by First Transit
463.40 (146.2) - Mesa Garage, operated by Veolia Transportation
463.55 (145.2) - Tempe Garage, operated by Veolia Transportation

452.85 is licensed to First Student, not the City of Phoenix.

The blue minibuses circulating around downtown Tempe and ASU can be found on the Fisher Wireless LTR Passport system.

I heard a more serious call on 452.750 tonight. I came in on the end of it but a driver was told to check the pulse of an unconscious rider and if no pulse was present, the fire department (which was on its way code 3) wanted him to start chest compressions. That was all I heard on the metro channel but I did hear an ambulance report about 10 minutes later that they were "leaving the scene" (same intersection) in route to Good Samaritan Hospital with a code.

That's another reason why I wouldn't want that job...

I have heard metro traffic on all three of the 463.xxx channels Transitman posted so they are all good. Thanks.

PHX Airport Shuttle Buses

While on the subject of buses and not wishing to start a new thread. the data shown in the database for PHX Airport shuttles is incorrect. On my last trip through PHX, parking lot and car rental shuttles were using 463.875 (LCN 01) with TG's 0-01-092 for base and 0-01-095 for mobile. A friend of mine who drives these buses (and has no interest in scanners) mentioned that a second channel was added to reduce the amount of radio traffic on each channel. Perhaps someone locally could monitor this frequency or do a close call/signal stalker (sitting in the parking lot across from the airport bus facility) to determine if any changes have occurred.

You may have just answered a question I was getting ready to post. I had 463.875 in the scanner as Valley Metro Bus. I put it in the scanner a couple weeks ago when I was working downtown and using the scanner for searching. I remember hearing what sounded like standard bus traffic (picking up passengers, questions about stops, etc). Unfortunately, I can't get much at home as I am about 20+ miles from the airport (and there are some small hills in between). I'll try to check the hit counter next time I head into central Phoenix and see how much activity there is.
