I just tried to post a reply to the 'funniest thing heard on the scanner' thread using Firefox and no matter what I did - chose quote, chose reply (with no quote), placed my text before the quoted item, placed my text after the quoted item, added a subject (title), had no subject - the Vbulletin software would insist I had to expand the length of my message because it was under 10 characters long. I had definitely typed more than 10 characters - I opened IE and posted the reply there via a simple cut and paste from the Firefox window.

I tried to post this message using Firefox just now. It said that I hadn't posted a subject and hadn't typed more than 10 characters. This is now being posted grudgingly in IE.

Has anyone else been having this issue? Is this a known problem? How about a workaround or bugfix? :)

Use Firefox at home and at work and have not had this problem.

It has nothing to do with your browser, the board is setup this way.

Um... care to explain how the board is 'set up this way'? Refusing to allow me to post at all in Firefox and allowing it with IE?

Did you read my entire post?

With a subject line....

Let me try to make this reply (again) in Firefox..

Thanks guys.. I have no ideas either. I don't experience the problem on any other sites, and I don't recall if I've posted from other locations yet since the Vbulletin changeover.

One thing I might wonder about is that this machine is a laptop, sharing wirelessly the internet connection my desktop machine has (a dialup 28.8 connection - for now). Again, I've not seen any problems stemming from this method of connecting, here or anywhere.

Dub: What's wrong with the quote? Looks fine to me.

I'll just keep kicking it 'til it works.... :)

Hmm... apologies for the double posting - I want to make a new posting instead of an edit, to confirm that my posting is functioning.

I cleared out an extension in my Firefox extensions folder, and restarted the browser. I think that caused the problem... it's an extension called "Always Remember Password", and is supposed to counteract the blanking of the password field on login forms by some sites. There used to be a caveat posted with this extension that it "may" cause some 'quick reply' entry boxes to quit working. I thought it was fixed, but apparently not, for I can post again.

Thanks for everyone's input and advice :)

It'd be 1.0.6, latest version avaiable thru the auto updates. As mentioned, it was the fault of the extension.

I have the same problem Jay, but do not find the extension you referenced in your previous. Using 1.06. Also, I have to use the firefox edit to paste in this window. Can't use the paste button in this dialog.

The only other thing I did was close Firefox and make SURE it was closed (it has a habit of hanging around in the task list after being closed in the regular way). I wish I had another suggestion... be like me, and try getting rid of stuff one by one? :)

Up arrow + Firefox

I hate to even bring this up because of the "*****ing" about it in the other thread, and that it's such a minor thing. I've noticed that the new up arrow does not work in FF. Does any other FF user have the same problem. It's certainly no complaint, just an observation. :)

I'm having the same problem with the up arrow, but I never use it anyway.

I usually just hit the Home Key and it will go to the top. Works fine with Firefox.

You mean for scrolling the screen up 1 line? I just tried up, down, home and end on this thread and they all work fine. FF 1.0.6 with a small load (14) of extensions.

No we are talking about the up arrow beside the quote button in each post.

Netscape 6.0+ and Firefox are both based on the Gecko rendering engine, so that's why.
