Fire is 3 acres, moderate rate of spread, potential of a couple hundred acres. IC is saying location is same of aircraft down call. Unknown if related at this time.

Fire has made significant run... now at 75-100 acres. I went outside and can totally see it up on the mountain.

FYI... There is really good video on IA-6 11788 (V) SR 3979 - also on KCAL/CBS site for those that are interested or able to receive feeds.

Hi AZ:

That is the freq to watch the raw feed from the helicopter. They had the microwave feed up-linked to IA-6 (a satellite), probably so major networks/affiliates could pick up the video.

IA-6 = Intelsat Americas 6 Satellite
11788 = Frequency (MHz)
V = Vertical Polarization
SR 3979 is the symbol rate for the video feed. Usually 3979 or 4232 for news feeds.

The feed scans in as "CBS NEWS LA1" and I see it used for CBS/KCAL helicopter feeds (pursuits, major events, fires, etc). In addition to video, you can hear the helicopter pilot talking to the assignment desk on it. I also scan 450-451 MHz to hear both sides.

You can get a Ku-band setup for pretty cheap. I got mine from www.sadoun.com It's awesome to watch the video for breaking events.

Feel free to PM me with any questions you have since this might be OT.

Not to go off topic but we call that are L.A. Pipeline. It is called IA6, 3E to us. The KCBS/KCAL chopper is up on that feed normally between 6 and 7 a.m. every morning and we almost always have some type of video up during times of breaking news in the LA area.
