• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

(if you attach a cb mike mount onto this mount)?

That's EXACTLY what I did with my BR330T , I mean the cb clip part , attached that to a Pedestal Mount coming right up beside my console....not exactly the top notch looking way to do it but it works fine for me and it gives me room for other things.

I saw this this evening at best buy I just wish my cup holders where in a better location in my vehicle so I could use this. I did see this there as well http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7695023&st=cell+phone+mount&lp=12&type=product&cp=1&id=1138084373352
and wondering if this would work well with scanners like the 396t (if you attach a cb mike mount onto this mount)?
You can get that same mount here for $7:

I just got one and its pretty decent, but probably a little springy for mobile use with a scanner. Might be OK if it did not have the battery pack in.

Look here at the 2nd to the last pic, you can see that mount holding a Pro97.

The other mount I show in that thread is more up to the task of holding a scanner since they are kind of heavy. Its a whopping $9 though...

There has been a big rise in stolen GPS units of late. The suction cup is a give away, even though you remove the suction cup, it leaves a mark on the windshield. You may not want a suction cup mount because of this, as well as they do loose their grip over time, due to variation in temperature. If you take the mount off and leave your radio in the car, it will be a target of a thief. The cup holder mounts are also not good because they don't seat properly. And the grip type mount wears out a lot faster than you want to, and you'll keep replacing them. if you find the PanaVise ClipCaddy in a store, get that instead. Mount it on an angle bracket off your dash and you won't have a worry. The belt clip fits into it nicely. And it doesn't have grip failure.

The only thing I didn't like about the panavise is if you vehicle hits a big bump or something, it would pop the radio right off...I went with the good old fashioned CB Mike clip mounted to the dash...holds super-snug....will take some pics tomorrow..

Pedestal Mounted By The Console On Passenger Side

Pedestal_BR330_Mounted.jpg

CB / Radio Mic Bracket is mounted to a "Clam Shell" which is mounted to the Pedestal , The BR330T belt clip bracket is in turn set in the cb mic bracket.

Nice install and pics!!
I recently bought the plastic tubing to cover the wires which makes it nice and cleaner install.
Do you remember where you got the pedestal mount?
