• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

    If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all,

I have a Vertex VXD-7200-G6-40 that I purchased off eBay, new old stock. I have Vertex Clone Editor version 5.5 build 34 running on Windows 10. Whenever I attempt to connect the radio to my PC using a CT-150 cable, I receive the following error in the Windows device manager:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

There is also a yellow triangle on top of the "Vertex Radio" icon. I have tried this on three Windows 10 PC's and gotten the same result each time. Any help would be appreciated.

Radio firmware: R01.07.04
CPS: 08.01.01

CT-150 not the correct cable.

you need a ct-151 for mobile radio that plugs into mic jack.

Thanks for the reply. I got it working late last night using the CT-150, which plugs into the rear 26 pin accessory connector on the radio. I had to use a virtual machine running in Virtual Box configured with Windows 7. Once the radio connected to the virtual machine the software read from and wrote to the radio without a problem. It must have been a compatibility issue.

I wanted to purchase a CT-154 which would have plugged into the mic jack, but they are no longer available.

Hi, know I am a bit late to the party, but if you have not figured it out yet, try running as administrator, and it may help as well, I know I had to on 10 and 11

Could you tell me where to get windows 7 in virtual box? I downloaded it but it won’t start. I keep getting errors when I start windows 7 in virtual box.
