VFIRE27, What frequency?

Tonight I heard Ventura Cnty contact LA Cnty to see if VFIRE27 was available tomorrow, Thur, for the Lime Fire (Piru). It is.

Problem: I checked National Interoperability in the DB & found VHF Public Safety Mutual Aid Common jumps from VFIRE26 to VMED28. No VFIRE27.

What gives?

There is no VFIRE27 in the IFOG guide, as you discovered.
Probably someone misspoke.

Hopefully no one is 'adding' channels to IFOG.

Tell me about it. I heard 27 as sure as I'm typing this (or am I?). I wrote it down. It was repeated.

Why would they have a 26 & 28 unless they anticipated a 27 someday? Will this drive me crazy tomorrow? Am I already there (don't all answer at once).

There is also a gap between VMED29 and VLAW31.

Who knows what their plan was. I have not heard or seen anything to suggest that there is now a VFIRE27. If there is, I'd love to hear about it.

Well, a little secret from the guy who led the Common Channel Naming standard effort:
VFIRE21-26 was based on the majority of the country using the old WHITE 1-3, and then adding the 7.5 kHz splinters.

VMED28 is 155.280 (hint).

The even "10s" (10, 20, 30, 40, etc.) are CALLING channels - so the jump to VLAW31.

Thank you for those clues! I followed them pretty well, I think BUT...one question:

You state that VMED28 is 155.280 (with the big "hint" in parenthesis); however, the RR database says VMED28 is 155.340 sooooo...though I follow the clues I am unsure of the "baseline"...is the RR listing incorrect or did you do an "oopsie"?

VMED28 is 155.34 PL 156.7. That is what the current NIFOG and NPSTC documents show.
K6CDO is wrong or maybe it started out that way before the documents were finalized.

Ok, so, that established, Don, was your "hint" based on the actual current VMED28 frequency or the old currently incorrect one you wrote?
