So, amongst scanning other things, I've inadvertently compiled a list of the south Asian shrimping crew frequencies. Google Translate has found most of them to be Vietnamese, with others unable to determine. Anyone care to add to the list?

154.890 (CSQ)
158.7225 (CSQ)
159.975 (100.0) Vietnamese verified
165.000 (CSQ)
165.775 (CSQ)
166.650 (CSQ)
173.8625 (CSQ) This one just became active yesterday (in my reception) and is very busy

In Mississippi?? The reason I ask is because there are Vietnamese shrimpers on the Mississippi coast.

When I lived in Tallahassee and had an 2 meter beam at 95 feet AGL Pointing west to the Gulf I could receive Cajun fishermen in the 148 MHz federal band. When conditions were right, they barrelled in.

I heard some very weak stations that sounded Vietnamese on 144.200 FM a couple of days ago, I forgot to post it in real time.

144.2 SSB is VHF HAM DX calling channel... you might have been hearing some weak DX on there. Might sound funny on FM.

Yes, I am a regular user of 144.200 SSB, thats how I discovered the signals. They were definitely using FM.

I heard them too. I was calling CQ on 144.200 USB a few nights ago and could here them in the noise level. Switched to FM and there they were. In the past (10-15 years ago) when they'd come on 2 meters simply explaining they weren't authorized and interfering with official communication was enough for them to move off frequency.

Along the same lines, and ideas what the Alpha Vessel Co and Westbank Fishing planes are using for comms? I see them on ADSBx obviously spotting for fishing boats below but haven't found them on VHF marine at all, and I can't find any obvious FCC licenses.

I see N101VB, N4861V, N326CF and N2376R out there at the moment.

Have you tried any of the ole ICOM Special channels - See Page 88

Also it might be worth looking/listening for the ole Speech Inversion Scambling

I've given up on these fish-spotting planes. I checked:
MURS
GMRS
FRS
CB
148-162 (including all the VHF marine channels and ALL modes on everything else in that range)
450-470

I'm usually LOS to where they operate, so....????
