Just like stated above it all depends. We patch from VHF but ours isn’t muted. It’s so overmodulated that when VHF tones are simulcasted we have to turn out radios down so they don’t blow our ears out. And some of the consuls the dispatch center uses transmits on viper, which sounds clear, while some transmit on vhf, which is incredibly loud. So we pretty much turn our radios up and down all day
