I will be buying a BCD325P2 very soon. I will also buy the ARC XT software. Can someone explain what you can do with Virtual Control? Clearly it lets you control the scanner from your computer... but is it only with the scanner attached with the cable?

I know (I think??) some scanners do WIFI but I don't think the BCD325P2 does...

So is it worth getting the ARC-XT-Pro for the Virtual feature? And what is "Enhanced Virtual"?

I don't care about the other features of the Pro version:

Data logging/history
Bandscope
Waterfall Display
'no loss' Harddisk Audio Recording
Closecall/Subtone logging

So the only reason I would choose Pro over Basic is the Virtual feature... depending on how it works and what it does...

The BCD352P2 does not have WiFi, it must be connected to the computer with the cable to use the "Virtual Scanner" mode.

Thank you! That was what I thought...

So what can you do with Virtual Control that is better than just operating from the scanner?
If using "Virtual Control" while connected to a pc, you can use software to log activity, and record transmissions. Note that for the ARC-XT software, you must have the "Pro" version for virtual control & recording. ProScan includes those (there's no separate 'Basic' & 'Pro' versions). FreeSCAN also includes those in previous versions, not sure (haven't looked) to see if the beta version of FreeSCAN, 2.18, does that for the 325P2/996P2 yet.

Since you have stated that you have no interest in most of the virtual control features....

I don't care about the other features of the Pro version:

Data logging/history
Bandscope
Waterfall Display
'no loss' Harddisk Audio Recording
Closecall/Subtone logging

There isn't much advantage in having it, except maybe a bigger display to look at, and using your mouse to control the scanner.
