Maybe I'm Missing Something

For the life of me, I cannot get the range circles to come up or appear on my VRS screen, even though I have the option box checked off:

Range circles

The easy way to figure that out is zoom out and see if the circles are somewhere over the UK? That means you need to enter your Lat Longs for your receiver position. That info is entered on the VRS settings not in the browser.

That is under the General tab, click on Set Current Location, drag and drop to your location on the map

You are on the options box of the software itself. You need to bring up the actual map form the server once you log on. Then you to go THIS screen, which after checking the proper box, you drag the red location icon on the map to your location. I have both boxes checked, set current location and show current location. I took this picture before I made the changes.

Sorry then, what I suggested is what worked for me! Do you see the red location icon? Just click and drag it to YOUR location.
I just undid it and redid it and it worked fine.

Receiver Location

In VRS Tools/Options Preset Configurations In the tree under receivers is receiver location, select your local receiver and enter Lat Long. At least VRS will remember this setting, if you ever close your browser and clear the history and temp internet files all the settings you made in the VRS browser will be forgotten.

A new question has risen!

While on the subject of trying to understand VRS a little better comes this interesting question. A friend of mine asked me this question and I did not know how to answer it simply because I never thought of it before. When you have the radar screen open, on the top left corner where it says "Virtual Radar" there are a set of numbers in parenthesis. I assume it refers to the amount of aircraft being tracked by the program, maybe I'm wrong. However, my friend asks,if that is the case, then why doesn't that number reflect what is on the screen? I thought about that for a second and did not know what to say. My own radar right now shows (42) but I have only about a dozen planes actually on the radar. Can someone explain this?

The number probably reflects all aircraft being received. The chart/map only shows the ones that are broadcasting position data.
