• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

We just started using the VP8000s and we can not seem to get any devices (ear buds, PTT mics, speaker, etc.) to connect to the bluetooth after pairing. Everything seems to pair just fine and but nothing will connect. Something we are missing? A setting?

Thanks and have a blessed day!

No error, just a rapid "beep-bop-beep" sound when the connect button is pressed.

I've successfully paired my Shokz OpenRun Pro headphones to my VP8000, but it took 3 tries to get it paired. You also have to PTT with button on the radio, not the one on the headphones.

Pairing is not the issue... even the Samsung TVs in the office will pair, just nothing will connect.

pairing and connect are the same meaning.
it either wont pair or it does pair.
You say it pairs. so what is NOT connecting then?

You need to also provide the Bluetooth information portion of your Armada.
If you can't show that, then get with your dealer to assist. We can do it on a forum automatically.
What device are you trying to PAIR?
What version BT is that device?

Just because it's Bluetooth does not mean it is meant for the VP8000.

NX 5000 and 3000 Bluetooth will not pair with Bluetooth devices that are version 5.x or newer.
This has been submitted to Japan to have this updated or fixed. They only pair with 4.0 or less
Bluetooth devices.

For example, I can successfully PAIR a set of T60 earbuds (BT version 5.3). They show up in the PAIRED DEVICES list as T60. But when I select CONNECT, I get nothing, just the three fast beeps and no connect. Does the device have to be an actual VP8000 supported device?

Operator error. Okay, You PAIR and GO. once you pair, your are DONE.
Connect is used to connect to an UNPAIRED device.

enjoy.

We have literally tried over 20 pairs of earbuds, different manufacturers and models with no success. Virtually all will pair through the scan menu and show up in the paired listing but no audio nor a connected bluetooth icon on the screen. What models has anyone successfully paired with these VP8000s?

I've only had success with mono (Single ear) old school BT cellphone earpieces. I haven't tried lately but in the past dual stereo earbuds were not compatible.
My goto is Plantronix unit that has a small mic boom and wraps around ear. The BT mic works but as others have stated you have to use the radio's PTT button.

I have both these and the shokz open run mini with good success.

I have a tech from Kenwood looking at our codeplug. Hopefully it is as simple as enabling hands free profile. Now just to get the software.
