Does anyone know what the antenna on the center of the typical VSP Ford Explorer is? Make & Model #?
Curious bc it appears to have a loading coil in the center of it? Is this just for VHF-STARS?

They must be combining the portable w the mobile radio. Any intel on the coupler/antenna combiner? Must save a bit of labor by running one less nmo cable. Thks.

I believe VSP runs APX8500 mobiles, which might explain the tri-band antenna. Not 100% sure though.

They're running APX8500 mobiles, with a Futurecom DVRS. The DVRS has it's own antenna on the roof, NMO mounted. They also have SmartConnect on STARS, so I suspect that's used more heavily than the DVRS nowadays.

Trumpetman is correct. They changed to the multi-band antennas when they recently added UHF capability to the APX mobile.

They are technically the NMO150/450/758SF’s, I have one for my XG100M and the performance is absolutely perfect for both my trunking systems and amateur/GMRS.
