Last week radio maintenance was testing 159.405 on what sounded like the Burke MT. That same evening traffic went digital.
From what I understand, the patrol units now have 50 watt digital radios instead of the 100 watt analog units. Some of the
wardens have been using VSP frequencies to communicate with dispatchers. Others are using their provided electronic
hand held devices when possible to communicate with dispatchers, therefore the wardens have gone quite quiet in the North Eastern part of the state.

Hmm, haven’t heard that in Chittenden or Addison Counties yet.

Heard a fish and wildlife supervisor on A1’s normal analog repeater yesterday morning (460.225/203.5).

Same this morning in Chittenden County. Unfortunately the transmissions were so short I couldn’t pick out a unit number once I realized what I was hearing.

I was using a handheld so I’m guessing Mansfield or Philo repeater.
Happened to me as well. Short transmissions. Caught a weird one the other day. 460.175 had a nac come through with 846h. Haven’t heard it again though. Wondering if its from somewhere in NY. I Usually get the analog 460.175 when there’s comms off the tower on Grandpas Knob in Castleton.

N846 = South Burlington - used by both Fire and Police and PD are on 460.1750

I would assume Mount Snow is up and running, although it could be Ascutney. I heard units on 159.4050 $802 going to Newfane for a bear into a chicken coop on 7/09/25. This is heard in Northern CT

The other day, I finally heard some P-25 traffic on 159.405 MHz. Pretty strong for my area, so I am guessing it was the Mt. Equinox repeater. NAC was 802, and comms were in the clear. I just caught the tail end of the transmission.

Surprised they don't announce which channel they are calling in on, like NH F&G used to ....makes it easier for Dispatch to know which repeater to key up...

Not knowing how the system is built out, it could be that they are using different NAC's to open up each repeater. If that is the case, the dispatcher's console will have each repeater listed, and the audio (and radio ID I would assume) would steer through the specific channel / repeater. But, if they're using a voter system, then I'm not sure.

I was thinking (assumption) it was like NH, yes a different input NAC but they had to always identify which Repeater
ie: F&G 15 on C (they used only letters) - many of the NH Counties did that for years as well before adding Voters
