I live in Stroudsburg and routinely hear station 46 and 41 transporting to Pocono hospital. I looked everywhere and can’t find ALS station numbers for Warren Co. Does Warren even dispatch for ALS, or does each ALS provider do that on their own? I believe St. Luke’s and North Warren Regional do ALS for most of the county.

All ALS in NJ is hospital based. Pretty sure St Claire’s covers most of Warren with Hunterson Medical Center maybe filling in the southern end (don’t live nearby so someone else can probably fill in better). 41 Rescue is Knowlton which I believe St Luke’s BLS covers and 46 Rescue is Blairstown. It’s all in the Warren County wiki page.

41 Rescue is an independent BLS squad not affiliated with a St Luke’s, I did see somewhere that St Luke’s was contracted to provide ALS to parts of Warren Co because of their new St Luke’s Warren hospital. I didn’t know that ALS was hospital based in Jersey, that explains a lot. The only mention of any ALS station in the wiki page was Hackettstown Hosp EMS, I think.

St Claire’s ALS has a unit at Hackettstown Hospital. St Lukes ambulance contracted to Knowlton is numbered 41-53.

St Luke’s is not licensed to run ALS in NJ

I find it really hard to believe that an outfit like St Luke’s isn’t licensed for ALS In Jersey, that’s so bizarre. So, Knowlton FD isn’t running their own ambulances anymore? The township contracted out? I hear 41-53 patched in to Pocono off and on and always thought it was Knowlton FD.

Normally Medic-57 out of Hackettstown Hospital will respond into Knowlton and Blairstown. at times Medic 56 which is the secondary unit out of Dover Hospital will cover for 57. Depending on call location or availability of ALS units 53 and 54 out of Lafayette can respond there. Ive only heard of a PA medic unit sometimes meeting the 41 or 46 BLS unit at the PA border if a NJ ALS isn't avail.

Monroe will usually send station 18 out of Stroudsburg to rendezvous, it’s rare, but it does happen. I’ve even heard 18 going into Warren. Monroe and Warren have a very good mutual aid agreement. It’s surprising how many patients are transported to Pocono from Blairstown, Knowlton and Hardwick.

NJ has archaic certificate of need laws governing healthcare providers including ALS. Medic providers are given very specific areas of responsibility. Currently only NJ based hospital systems have medic programs, and it’s not all hospitals just certain systems who have been given the CN. PA is way more liberal regarding ALS.

The most recent ALS addition was Cooper’s program in Camden which bumped Virtua out of the city after a legal battle but that was also all politics.

Out of state ALS is not permitted to respond to NJ jobs. When I dispatched at Miccom from 1992-2008 if we didn't have a truck to go to job in Mahwah, the PD would request the unit out of Good Sam in Suffern NY from Rockland County to meet the BLS unit on the border.
Warren Co requested ALS from Monroe to respond to an ATV accident on Coppermine around 1300 today. No ALS available in Warren. Monroe sent Suburban, had an NJSP escort.
