So I’ve taken a few year break in listening to my scanners after Warren switched over to the state towers. I currently have a pro 106 and a home patrol-1. I’ve tried to program their channels and it has been very hit or miss on what I hear on either scanners. It’s also very choppy compared to what I hear on scanner apps on the phone.

From what I’m seeing, this is now a phase 2 system but still broadcasted on phase 1? Maybe this is why it’s choppy as it can follow the control channel?

At this point if I want to listen, should I throw in the towel and get the uniden sds100 to replace my portable and may get some time in with it before every pd goes encrypted?

Thanks!

So far Oakland County are the only agencies on Phase 2. You're most likely suffering from the dreaded simulcast distortion that plagues older scanners. The SDS100 should handle the Warren/Macomb county just fine.

Warren is on Macomb Co Simulcast Towers so with that said
The 106 is about useless on that system .(SIMULCAST)
THE 436 is still Choppy and ive played with different settings on it .
I ended up with the SDS 100 it is flawless iam at 12 and Schoenherr area .
this is just my opinion and ive had over the years the 106 651 pro96 436 I still use it but not for MPSCS
Now the SDS 100 is the go to for this area ,
