According to the The Daily News, Washington County Radio Committee has recommended the county spend $2.9 million to upgrade their public safety radio system to cover dead spots in West Bend, Germantown, Hartford & Slinger. The article mentions that there could potentially be some savings if Ozaukee County upgrades their system at the same time; however Washington Co would upgrade regardless. The County Board would need to approve the proposal - last year the proposal did not get approved. They are also looking at replacing seven emergency dispatch consoles for $1.27 million.

Well at least 60% of the article was accurate. The new dispatch consoles are $34K each.(lol R8000) Most of Wash Co. project is a IT replacement to update over 5 year old servers and routers for a system wide network upgrade. Included is an ISSI gateway to connect into the new P25 infrastructures that are going in at 3 (possibly 4) surrounding counties. Multi-band radios to interop into those counties for the Sheriff Dept. is part of the project. For incoming 800Mhz users a Phase II p25 700Mhz system overlay is purposed, as well as giving local municipalities the option to utilize the sub-system for better in-building coverage. And the good news? The VHF P25 existing system is staying live and will continue to stream and able to be scanned. Unfortunately, P25 Phase II simulcast systems still are giving "most" scanner manufactures a bit of grief.
