I have a scanner mounted in my rig. I was pulled over in a parking lot for looking suspicious (Pulled over to listen to a task force raid) the officer insisted that it was Illegal to have one in a Car? After he ran my info I came back clean he said he could not find the statue so he is gonna let me off with a verbal warning.

So anyone have the RCW's Regarding Scanners?

He will find out that he is mistaken. I looked over the RCW'S and could not find anything, If it was me I would just turn it off when they walk up to the car why deal with it, if its not on they will not ask about it.
here is a link with state laws on scanners.

WA State does not have any statues outlawing scanners in vehicles.
Not to say the individual city/county agency officers will try to bend a
general understanding of some department policy that will allow them
to confiscate your scanner. It has happend before.
The best way to win is get a ham license which exempts you from
prossicution for posessing scanners and other radios in your vehicle.

A bit like they do a automobile.. usually the keys are handed over or we get a court order to take the plane... we usually fly it or rent a hanger where it's at and store it. I know a guy that reposed a glider had a tow plane and they towed it across the country.

on subject,

I think the LEO was making crap up!! That's why he said he could not find the LAW he is letting me go with a verbal warning..

Wish I would have been recording the VPD
