Good afternoon all, hope everyone is doing well!

Quick question in regard to the Waterbury System. Has anything major changed in the last 45-60 days that may not have been updated on RR? I have a relative that lives in Waterbury and told me that for the last 45-60 days, nothing is coming across his scanner, and I am just curious if maybe the system went to P2 or something else maybe changed? Would like to avoid having them ship it back and forth to do some testing.

Any information is appreciated!

Thanks, and have a great day!

I was in Waterbury last week, like I mentioned to you, and had no issue with the system on my SDS100, which is programmed identical to the DB here. What model scanner are they using?

Everything in the DB is accurate to the system as of last week, maybe minus for some previous unidentified talkgroups.

Hey! Yes, I know you had reported that the WACN is correct on the DB, I was more or less curious if maybe they switched to Phase 2. He has a BCD996XT(non phase 2 model), so this is why I was wondering if maybe they switched to phase 2.

All the pictures I took (trying to get you that shot) show "P25" and not "P25P2" , so that indicates it's FDMA.

I am guessing with that BCD996XT, he must have moved it or something, and is dealing with Simulcast distortion
This can happen on FDMA Phase I systems as well as Phase II. I know in Waterbury, I did in the Brass Mills parking lot where my 536 just kept on scanning while the SDS100 would catch the transmissions on the system.

It is possible that one of the 2 frequencies not marked as control channel capable is now being used as the control channel for the Waterbury system. Check if all 10 of the frequencies are programmed into the site on the BCD996XT.

Yeah I have all them programmed in with it being a Harris system and all of the CC’s and VC’s being able to become the CC at anytime. I will also double check my programming but it’s been running smooth for a couple years until about a month or two ago.

852.175 is the control channel I am picking up. Waterbury is not a Harris system, it is a EF Johnson Atlas system. Looks like phase 1 from what I am receiving

yes it is phase 1 for many years so eventually, they may go to a phase 2 you can pick them up on statewide system

They turned transmitter power down a little bit but nothing has changed as far as modulation or frequencies.

Hi, I am the one one that submitted the waterbury info years ago and to date nothing has changed, I have them on my sds100 and 996xt which is only phase 1 and no issues except for cutting out during transmissions once in awhile but that could be my scanner. There is a rumor they eventually will go phase 2 so they can access the state system for mutual aid purpose and thetc have a couple of channels on there but have not heard a peep on them yet.

Quick question, how strong is the Waterbury trunked system signal ? Can anyone in the Shelton/Derby/Ansonia area hear it? Before I go into the whole setting it up routine, I want to know if the signal reaches this far.

45 watts. You can barely hear it outside the city. That being said, you MAY catch issi traffic once in a while over clmrn

Thanks, actually, I have heard them on the 65XXX issi TG. That is why I was asking about the system itself, just in case. I guess I will stick to the issi TG on the CLMRN.

Thanks again....

I've been monitoring Waterbury fire dispatch all weekend on 65440 as mentioned earlier. And I agree with you, I live fairly close to the boarder in Cheshire and have a hard time picking up their system.
