Is it worth if for myself who has absolutely no knowledge of how radio waves operate or the general principle of how two way radios operate?
I just don't want to spend $20 and then not knowing what I am looking at.

Personally I would hold off. Get used to the scanner first, after you’ve mastered it maybe revisit getting it. Others may have different opinions.

It's a nice to have, but no, it's certainly not something that is needed to enjoy your scanner. I agree with @KevinC wait and learn, then decide.

It is very useful if you have RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) and need to investigate.
Especially since these Uniden SDS radios are very susceptible to it, because of their very ''wide' front end.

One of those things that are nice to have - but certainly not necessary for proper operation of the radio.

It’s nice to have on a receiver for looking for distant frequencies but on a scanner that just scans from the database or favorites, it’s not really needed. But, can be useful to see if you have a close frequency bleeding in. More of a personal preference.

Good afternoon, I do have a question that is a little off topic. I am interested in obtaining the Uniden Waterfall for my Uniden scanner, so how do I go by this.

Go to this site, create an account and register your scanner with Uniden... The key code to unlock it can be purchased from them once you set up the account... Waterfall key is $20...
You will need the latest firmware and the latest version of the Sentinel Software for your SDS scanner also...
