Anyone here using Waterfall on their SDS scanners?

I've mentioned enough my struggles with PSRN on my scanners.

I ask because while I run Unitrunker on PSRN and it works well the power has been caught a number of times in our building, generator and electrical issues, it's a concrete slab that is aging. Power will be cut tomorrow, maybe all day.

I'm curious if thr Waterfall option will work and if so I'd love to be able to monitor this (I'd love to swear here but we must be civil and speak proper English) system.

:)

The waterfall is a great addition to the SDS scanners. A nice tool for finding new activity etc. on frequencies in your scanning area. It's especially useful with the additional features and enhancements that ProScan software adds to it. Well worth the $20 for me, I use it on a daily basis.

I would say to instead spend that $20 on a SDR dongle and use SDR# to monitor the spectrum and do other things with it as well, like searching the whole civ air band in 2 sec.

I have the SDR programs already. I never really got into it.

I have a space issue, a desk and work area that's already cluttered with radios and my other hobbies. I sometimes have to shut off Unitrunker because of space issues.

I'm thinking $20 and I'm able to use it anywhere works better for me than figuring out SDR

Thank you for the response.

I have it on my SDS200. As others have said its great for locating new users or frequencies. The waterfall works excellent on DMR and TDMA signals.

If you set the custom waterfall for the 5.8 spread and frequencies like 139-143, 410-415,420-425, 450-455,460-465 you can easily check out the most active band segments. Once you see activity you can move the marker to the waterfall trace and get the frequency or a very close approximation of it. Certainly within 25kHz and accurate enough to use a regular search or CC to capture the actual freq.
