Yeah, The Township and City Fire Departments use it. The townships use it on Mondays when they do training and the City fire depts use it sometimes during the week.

These are the training TGs that I have heard.

Fire Training Dispatch - 1020 (I heard KFD Hazmat 11 talking on this TG and on Training Tac 1)

Fire Training Ops 1 - 1021
Fire Training Ops 2 - 1022
Fire Training Ops 3 - 1023
Fire Training Ops 4 - 1024
Fire Training Ops 5 - 1025

Fire Training Tac 1 - 1031
Fire Training Tac 2 - 1032
Fire Training Tac 3 - 1033
Fire Training Tac 4 - 1034
Fire Training Tac 5 - 1035

Looks like there is talk about amalgamating the Waterloo Region fire dept's

What would this mean other than equipment and training? It also looks like they might be adding another fire station in Kitchener near downtown.

It's a consolidation that would let them eliminate duplication of equipment, streamline administrative positions etc etc. For example all the regional township departments could be rolled in under "Waterloo Regional Fire Deptartment" (or whatever they may choose to call it), then just go by stations.... ie WRFD Ayr Station etc. If you look at Chatham-Kent this is what they did. Everything is Chatham-Kent Fire Department, but covers 20 stations (give or take). I think Hamilton runs in a similar fashion too with their regional departments.

Many municipalities are looking at this option; go to regional or county level fire Depts...

Biggest driver is training - with the closure of the OFC, departments either have to build their own training grounds, partner/hire another FD's training facility, or engage one of the private/regional schools.

Admin, maintenance and specialized equipment (think HazMat, high angle and trench rescue, etc) also make a regional system look appealing...

This also streamlines dispatching. One dispatch center means that when a call that comes in from several areas all gets consolidated into a single call to the proper department. The same goes for mutual aid situations.

Vehicle Fire at the Region of Waterloo Airport. Breslau had trouble with their radio(s) switching to the CYKF Ops channel so they patched Fire Tac 2 and CYKF Ops.

Just curious so these frequencies are no longer used? They should be deleted as it is old data now that the P25 system replaced Analog, EDACS, and Zetron Links.

Chances are the simplex frequencies are still in use but with P25 modulation.

Today I heard this over the Township Fire Dispatch channel patched using the St. Jacobs Fire Page TG and an automated voice saying test alert for St. Jacobs, test alert for St. Jacobs. This wasn't using the usual dispatcher RID though. I am unsure if this means they are working on an automated voice solution or if this is a random thing. They did the test twice.

Edit: It seems they were also doing testing on Fire Training Tac 5 as well.

Audio Link Below:
St. Jacobs Test Fire Page

Update:
They tested all township pagers with the automated voice and now they are doing all city stations.

This is what the dispatcher said when they were testing: MACH ALERT.

I've not seen that Moto offering before. Most departments seem to use the Locution dispatching.

They could of picked a better voice for that. Maybe after a bit you'll get use to her accent.

Update:
They have stopped using the voice and are using different tones for fire and medical for city dept's. The Fire tone is a ramping up siren and the Medical is similar to the radio evac tone.
