Waukesha County planning TRS upgrade

Waukesha Co. Radio system upgrade
Hi everyone I am a reserve officer for a community in waukesha county and our department is currently getting new radio's and we will be getting more talkgroups when rebanding is finished. I believe we are getting xts 2500 and xts 5000. It will take 2 years in order to convert all the radio's due to funding. Those radio's will be compliant with the new Motorola P25 system that will be installed in a few years. Also has anyone looked at the waukesha co budget? They already list a capital improvement project at the county radio tower.

The system still will not be digital for some years to come, so no need to get all excited about it yet.
Also, what could the City of Waukesha PD need more TG's for? Really...most of the time, they sit quiet as it is except for dispatch.

Waukesha County Digital System
We are getting more Talkgroups so we can communicate with more agencies on the TRS. I heard we are getting a TG so we can talk to WCC and communicate with the sheriff's department. I don't understand it either as a reserve officer but we are getting new radio's that can hold more channels and they want to occupy them. I know the County Chase channel is monitorable by all PD's in the county and county assist is also a good channel.

Ok, that makes sense...but as you worded it, it sounded like WKPD was adding more TG's for their own use.

The line item you see on the county budget for the radio tower includes an upgrade to the microwave backhaul and some expansion of the overall shop.
No additional radio upgrades are in the current budget.

Microwave Overhaul
I was driving by the main tower by Davidson Rd. and saw men working on the tower, they appeared to be working on the microwave dishes. I usually see 7-8 dishes on the tower, I could only see 3. There is still no activity on the soon to be rebanded channels.
