WCRCS - Re-organization ????

It appears as though Washoe County is re-organizing their talkgroups. From what I can tell this has been a work in progress and it's not over yet. Seemingly the TG's are now being seperated by units for the PD's and Sherrif. Example TG 0257 is carrying most of the Sam unit traffic. However, to qualify, the full reorganization doesn't seem to be complete.

Also for the Sheriff and Police I'm fairly certain that this is the description and locations for the units.

Sam - South
Nora - North
Charlie - Central

Motor - Motorcycle/traffic
Tom - Traffic

Some yet to be defined:
Victor
Xray

Any others?

I'm sure that the detectives, CSI, Vice (Victor??), Narcotics, etc have their own designation.

Below is an Etrunker group output monitored over Hot August Nights which was a very busy week/weekend for the WCRCS. I noticed that the channel capacity had been reached if not exceeded in a couple of occasions. :shock: More freq's may be in order for Washoe County if events like Hot August Nights apparently tax the system or if more newer agencies come online.

Note the amount of hits in so far unidentified TG's. :shock: I also need to make a post in the ETRUNKER forum to find out why TG's without hits make this list.

"Union" units are UNRPD units - they run off reno green.\

"Charles" units are central RPD units (they're not called charlie - i prefer the military/avaiation alphabet, alpha bravo etc. over this alphabet they sue here)

"Marshall" - unknown - might be units that work warrants

"Frank" - unknown

"William" - unknown - might be walking downtown or bike units

More Washoe Trunked System Sites Found

As promised I just returned from Nevada. I CONFIRMED 2 more sites of the Washoe system and sent them in to the database. There is still another site on Fox Mtn that I was not able to confirm. 856.2125, 857.2125, 858.2125, 859.2125.

Reno Pd - some of what I have

Reno and washoe county operate a joint communications center. TG 257 thru 266 seem to be patch talkgroups - these talkgroups enable a single dispatcher to work more that one agency - a common one for instance is WSCO White and RPD Blue will be patched to say TG 257 - these TG are normaly used to run registeration and warrant checks etc . These talkgroups are frequently heard late night when staffing is minimal - or during events such as Hot August Nights. My 780 will frequently show PATCH and will alternately display the actual and patched talkgroup - in other words the unit is actually talking on his normal TG it is PATCHED by the system to a combined talkgroup. - Hope this is clear as mud

David - DRE - Drug/alcohol recognition officers

Frank - Community Services Officers - Non sworn uniformed personnel that take non critical reports - minor accident reports etc

Henry - Mounted (read horseback)

IDA - Detectives (general)

King - Animal control (county and city of reno)

Lincoln - Parking enforcement officers

Motor - Motorcycle Polce Officers

Marshall - Reno City Marshalls - Sworn armed officers that work for courts - serve warrants (Sparks also has marshall units - same thing)

Nora - North Reno Police units

Sam - South Reno Police Units

Save - Senior Auxillary Volunteer Effort - Civilian uniformed patrols of malls - parking lots ect - they ticket handicap zone violators - check on abandoned vehicles, assist at special events etc.

Tom - Traffic (Accident Investigation)

Union - UNR (university of Nevada Reno) Police Units

Victor - ???

William - Walking/Bicycle Police Units

Xray - ???

Zebra - ???

Your experiance with this is always helpful.

I'm running Etrunker and see lot's of patches. It's interesting that if I lock on a TG indicated in the patch I only hear one side (dispathcer usually) yet if I scan or read Etrunker output I can not find another active TG.

0771 -> 0257
0777 -> 0260
0779 -> 0259

(Pathces are as an aexample)

Are showing up in my patch list. I am hearing indications that hese are coming/originating communications from Carson. However Carson to my knowledge is still 155Mhz.

Another point of interest is that 0771 is usually patching to 0754 or 0756. The traffic I've heard on 0756 indicates NHP.

Also TG 0652 is car to car communications. Just haven't nailed it down if it's WCS or RPD but indications are RPD.
