I was listening to 7a on a digital scanner last night (June 27) and I started hearing strange static. In this static i could hear people talking about weird things such as GPS and clearance. I would hear this static at the end of dispatch calls and sometimes before. I know this static was analog over a digital system due to the nature of the sound. Anyone else hear this?

We normally have our VHF channel 2 (154.160) patched to 7A (Dispatch). Occasionally we experience interference on channel 2 which gets passed across the patch to 7A. We can disable the in-bound side of the channel 2 when this occurs. It just depends on who is working the console as to when they think the interference is too annoying and disable the in-bound side of the patch, so sometimes it is rebroadcast for quite a while depending on the dispatcher's tolerance.

The out-bound side of the patch cannot be disabled by the dispatcher and is always active regardless of the state of the in-bound side of the patch.

Hope this helps.

I am working in a station tonight and noticed the interference also. I called ECC and had them disable the inbound side of the VHF Channel 2 (154.160) patch so that the interference would not be rebroadcast on 7A. They have done this and have contacted the Radio Shop to deal with the interference issue.

Hopefully we will get this sorted out soon and will this will not be an continuing issue.
