I was wondering how do you know what town's are talking in Weld County?

I check on Wiki but I don't understand the chart when they have like Ault, Eaton & Evans all on 1938 more towns are on this also & Gilcrest, Greeley & Johnstown all on 1946 & other towns then on. Wouldn't they have different TG's for different towns for each channel they have? For example 1938 CH 1, 1939 CH. 2, 1940 Tac-1 say for Johnstown ect? Weld County SO all on 1930. How do you know what town is being dispatched & what town is talking? So I can actually list the town for each TG or do they say the town name when being dispatch?

Each town or area has their own unique set of unit id's. This goes for law, fd, and ems. It's a matter of knowing the first 2 numbers represent one area. Example: 29xx numbers are johnstown fd/ems units.

On talkgroups 1938 (North units) and 1946 (South units) they state the town they are affiliated with at the beginning of the transmission.

Talkgroup 1930 is for all of Weld county sheriff.

Greeley has their own set of talkgroups for their police department.

Thanks Ismith, I think I have the FD figure out but on Weld County North Law and South Law all I see on the wiki page is several towns with TG numbers the same like 1938 is for north towns & 1946 is for south towns. I don't see unit id's numbers for them.

As I recall they use a somewhat oddball callsign structure for the various City PD's, it's not anywhere near as simple as the fire agencies. Sometimes they begin by stating a city name, other times not. I may have some notes buried somewhere about this, I'll try and dig them up. As was noted earlier, they use the LE North and LE South talkgroups for dispatching City PD's. However, sometimes they're patched together with other law talkgroups.

It's been a while since I've monitored the law side. I'd forgotten it is a little more oddball. I'm pretty sure the same basic principles still apply, but they say the name of the city they're from sometimes. It's also going to depend on how many dispatchers they have as to what will be patched together. If i recall correctly, all of weld county comes out of one center, so when a bigger incident happens, it takes away a dispatcher sometimes.

From what I've gathered listening to the local PDs there, everyone is assigned a unit number from 100 to probably 999, and each agency is assigned a range within that. I haven't nailed down exact ranges but this is what I've documented so far

Lochbuie - 104 to 111
Hudson - 200's
Fort Lupton - 329 to 351
Dacono - 672 to 680
Firestone - 707 to 721
Milliken - 889 to 893
Platteville - 912 to 919
Johnstown - 920's
Frederick - 972 to 989

I'm probably missing a lot but it's just been very casual documenting for me

Ault, Eaton, Evans, Kersey, Lasalle, Nunn & Windsor are on Local Law North 1938.

Fredrick, Firestone, Fort Lupton, Johnstown, Locbuie, Milliken & Platteville are on Local Law South 1946.

Gilcrest PD was disbanded in 2015.

Greeley 1 Primary 1900
Greeley 2 Secondary 1906
Greeley Clear 1901
Greeley TAC-3 1902 ENC
Greeley TAC-4 1903 ENC
Greeley TAC-5 1904 ENC
Greeley TAC-6 1905 ENC

The agency name is usually aired along with their call sign number for law.

....

Can you verify the call sign ranges referenced by kc0zhq?

Since they do announce the agency names on the air I have not bothered to associate call numbers. That and I am usually commuting when monitoring.

Over the years they have moved the call numbers around between agencies.
