Western Area Regional Radio System

Does anyone know the status of this system that will include Carroll, Heard, Douglas, Haralson, etc counties. I've not been able to detect an active control channel yet.

They need to extend what they already have, not burn it on a completely separate entity.

I agree with that. The more i see what jurisdictions are doing with their radio systems, the more I appreciate and value the simplicity, reliability and value of conventional radio.

and all the more reason I enjoy amateur radio, we can talk across the street or across the world: from analog to digital, from HF through microwave- we can make the connection, and without having to spend billions of dollars to do it either.
