I know fire/police/EMS all switched over to 800 digital APCO about a year ago, but was wondering if they still use any of the old low/high/UHF channels at all for simulcast or regular use? Any info would be appreciated.

Fire Dispatch 33.7000 and EMS Dispatch on 155.1600 are still used. The old operations frequencies are used occasionally for LZ's when the Medical Helicopters are called in.

Yes 33.70 still very active for activating tones and simulcast the voice announcement, also Hempfield Fire on 154.355 do operations on the repeater, Latrobe Fire 154.385 Self dispatched, only work on 800 if responding to calls out of area.
154.250 Greensburg Fire still daily activity, Stat Medevac II 155.265

Mutual Aid Ambulance is 155.715 Unfortunely they have switched ALL traffic to the 800 system, They are supposed to activate Tones for the EMTs on 155.715..however they stopped using the tones..and now can't use there Minitors..Poor decision since Tones can't work on 800.

State Police currently are still on VHF..but that darn Open Sky system is waiting in the wings.

154.920 PSP Greensburg
154.830 Greensburg Mobiles

154.755 Car to Car

155.580 PSP somerset and Kiski Valley

155.460 PSP Tac channels

I use Plectron Alert monitors to hear traffic on low band 33.70

This hobby is really getting expensive,,I have the Uniden APCO 996T and the 396xt to monitor the digital system.

Wow, thanks for all the info folks!

I never knew that you can't use tones on 800mhz. How do the volunteer firefighters get dispatched out? Scanners? I know they used pagers in the old days.

That's why they still use 33.7000 and 155.16000. No one has made a pager, that I have heard of, that operates with an 800 mhz trunked system.

Mutual aid ems doesnt need pagers since all personel have a radio when working... They alert the radio for the crew i believe.. similar to how they activate the sirens off the 800 control station..

Frank - Thanks for the update on Rescue 8 transition to 800 on the Trama list, Smart move to still use the Alerting on 155.160.
I wanted to let you know that i got confirmation from a relative that works with Mutual Aid EMS who is very unhappy with the discontinuing of Tone Alerts for there individual 10 stations, She said they use a Generic beep over the 800 dispatch for all stations..it doesn't activate anything but confusion, she said this has caused confusion frequently and when your dealing with patient care..not very smart.
They used to alert there minitors for off duty medics if a station goes Code 1 (unmanned- need a crew for a call) Now not sure what they do.

I recently received my new BC396xt and handles the P25 for Westmoreland well, and how about the Fire Tone out search? it also works very well and a cool feature.

NHT Police is now using TG 137 full time. leaving 154.770 on the air as backup.

Still calling dispatch 521 and new thing.. D1 desk handles emergency alarms for them, not the NHT dispatcher.

heard badge 10 made a reference to needing to move the button!

Thanks, I have noticed on the EMS freq they no longer use the ID KRZ-919 when announcing a call.
I received N huntingdon loud and clear on 154.770 here in Latrobe for years..going to miss hearing them on my old VHF HTs..800audio just doesn't sound clean.

District 4 PD still have 154.740 in there vehicles, but no longer in there portables.

I miss hearing all the Traffic on National police freq 155.475, I did hear a PSP trying to contact county radio on National not long ago..they never answered.

Yeah, Some of the dispatchers are still sending out ems alerts on old VHF police.

Right now 154.770 staying active as a backup. I personally dont like the audio.. The digital simulcast kills the scanner reception.

Radios are not as bad. I personally wished the county had went with a UHF system. or even VHF p-25 system.. Doesnt have to be trunked.

They got led into the usual BS from the radio shops that they had 800 ch's and had to use them.

I would use a scanner with tone out feature to find the tones for them. Unfortunely i dont have a list of them. It would probably take me a few days to try and search for them.

If the customer has a pager or access to another one for the dept then that would work.

Arnold has a tone for each of the 2 individual companies, along with a general alarm tone coupled with the DTMF tones that activate both companies at the same time along with the sirens for the more serious calls. Don't know them offhand but you'd need at least 2 tone sets to make it work correctly...

DTMF are only used for sirens. However some have moved to 800 alerting for the siren and just have not removed their old siren tones.

Yes....I phrased that wrong. There's 3 sets of pager tones--one for 95-1, one for 95-2, and one that activates both at the same time AKA "general alarm" as I've heard it referred to.

Try these:

95-1: 1285.8/1395.0
General Alarm: 1285.8/1251.4

Sounds like their pagers are set up for A/B and A/C alerting.
