I keep hearing the DSP folks refering to the "Highband" Freqs, or they are switching over to the highband radio. What frequencies are they refering to?

If it is anything other than their 800 tgs then it is unique to a certain unit/division, DSP as a whole uses 800.

High Band is a "throw back" term that the old timers use. This goes back to the days when DSP had two radios in their patrol vehicles. High band VHF and Low Band VHF. In the early days, the High band radio had only one channel, and was used for dispatch. The low band radio was used for data checks (vehicle reg. warrants, car to car)etc. Later when channels were added (Channel 1 NCC, Channel 2 Kent, Channel 3 Sussex, Channel 4 Data, Channel 5 Spec. OPS, Channel 6, Spec OPS, Channel 7 Nationwide Emerg. Channel(NWEN), Channel 8 Statewide Emergency Channel (SWEN) The message to go to highband meant to return to the dispatch channel on the new radio from the low band radio. Later became to mean to return to the dispatch channel. Some of the troopers from the earlier days still use this terminology.
