So I just bought 2 Antenex Phantom antennas and I was told that i'd need an NMO style mount to mount them on my car. I'm not so sure. Can anyone tell me what type I need?

Wow.. I've never seen a mount like that..

It looks as if that part will "twist" out of the bottom of the actual antenna. I do know that is NOT an NMO mount that you're showing there. I belive that type of mount is to actually mount the antenna on a hard top roof of your vehicle.

It looks like you could take a pair of pliers or appropriate sized wrench, on the hexagonial shaped "nut" that's right under the base of the antenna and remove that peice. When you remove it, you should be able to see the NMO female under the antenna itself.

Just my assumptions...

Hmmmm...

Well now, I'm fresh out of ideas! That dosen't look like an NMO mount to me...

I'm thinking that type of antenna you have is made for a hole in the roof of your vehicle.

Sorry I'm at the end of my rope now.. There are guys who do actual radio installs on the board here. I'm positive one of them will speak up soon, and offer more insight. :)

That's an N connector. Very high quality, Low Loss connector.

It looks like it goes through the roof, and bolts down with the supplied nut and washer.

just figured that out through a little googling- also looks like there is no way to use anything like a magnetic mount or trunk lid mount. not good...

With a little bit of aluminum, and a bender, you could make your own trunk mount bracket.

Good luck.

It's a through hole mount with an N connector....

If you notice the thread has 2 flat pieces on it, you can take a pair of pliars and unscrew it. It will remove the NMO-N adaptor, which will leave you with an NMO antenna...

Yes, that's the permanent mount version where you have to drill holes. You could make up a small plate with legs out of aluminum, but that would kind of defeat the stealth idea. Look back at their site and find the version that's NMO... Then you could put that on a regular mag mount.
