What do these terms mean?

I have been finding some spare time to listen to my scanner recently
and I have a few questions about some terms that perhaps the people
with more experience listening could answer for me. First I would
like to know what a CFS and a CAD number is and what they are used
for? I think CFS might be court file system or something similar
because I notice they start over from 1 at midnight. Second I would
like to know what post is? I think it might be the police station
but sometimes I hear them say I will be out here for post. Third I
would like to know what 01, 02, 03 and so on mean. I think 01 is the
Kankakee Jail and 04 is the courthouse the other numbers which I
have heard go up to 07 I dont know what they mean. Also what is 10-
200? And my last question is about the talkgroup IDs. It is
basically if I have all the frequencies for the Kankakee area
programmed into my scanner and if the cops are talking on a
different talkgroup than I have will I still be able to hear it? I
am just wondering because it seems to me that I dont hear some of
whats going on. Not really sure but I have yet to hear any action
from talkgroups Sheriff East or Sheriff West or from Ops or from
Kameg1 or Kameg2. Just wondering if they might be using different
talkgroups than I have which is causing me to miss the action?
Thanks in advance for any help.

CAD means Computer Aided Dispatch, used by 9-1-1 Centers to handle call taking, dispatch and records management.
CFS means Call For Service, it is a term used in CAD systems.
Post(s) are used to identify locations. Post 1 might be the county jail or a local McDonald's etc. Anyplace routinely utilized may be given a post designator.

10-200 is likley a bathroom break or similar.

Your scanner will only hear a single conversation at a time. This may be on a discrete frequency or from a trunked system talkgroup.

Attached is a CARMA profile on the Kankakee County area, it may answer some of your questions as well.

Thanks to everyone for you help in answering my questions. I already had a copy of that Kankakee file which I must say is very good information. The only problem I see is that some of the talkgroup IDs that you have are different from the ones I have. I got a .p95 file for the KanCom system that I found on a yahoo group which I think is right. Perhaps you misunderstood my question so I will ask another way. As long as I have every frequency for the KanCom system programmed into my scanner even if a conversation is happening on a talkgroup that I do not have identified will I still be able to hear it? Also you mention discrete frequencies. Is it possible that Kameg could be using these discrete freqs in hopes of making it harder for someone to monitor? If so how would I go about finding the frequencies that they may be using? I am very interested in hearing Kameg so any additional information would be very helpful to me. Thanks again.

Also I have included a link for a .p95 file for KanCom it can be opened by using Don Starrs win95 programming software, I do believe it to be accurate.

If you place your scanner in Search mode when tracking the KanComm trunked system you can hear all the talkgroups, not just the ones you have programmed in the scan banks. On RS scanners I think they use the term "Open Mode" while Uniden use "Search". Regardless, this will allow you to monitor all talkgroups on the system.

Up here in Lake County I use the search function on the Lake County EDACS system and lockout talkgroups as I identify them or confirm them, then the radio remains quiet until a new talkgroup is heard and ready for identification.
