Here in bergen county exluding police/fire/ems what else could i pick up with a pro-97 with the original ducky antenna? its getting a little boring listening only to emergency crews. Anyone have frequencies for any tow trucks, garbage trucks, fast food drive throughs, etc in bergen county. I tried looking in the database didnt find much. thanks.

If you think cops, fire, and first aiders are boring, just try fast food sites. How many orders of supersized french fries can you handle before the high stress incidence gets to you?. Get a copy of Scanner Master (either purchased or borrowed) and check the towns that interest you. Best and most concise source I know of. This is a good time to begin amassing a library or at least a set of good websites for finding answers toyour questions. Better learning about our hobby that way.

I'll agree with Bruce regarding that Scanner Master publication. It is a good $40 investment and I'll second the fact that it has more freq's than you can handle. This is exactly what happened to me. It also gets you to explore other areas of scanning such as Gov't (Federal, State, Local) as well as local media outlets (TV news crews [for NYC]), etc. It won't disapoint you, trust me.

Throw in NYPD and FDNY, it'll keep you interested. Post here if you need a Win97 file with NYPD/FDNY in it.

Must you always have a smart reply to what I say? The question asked was what else he could listen to, and I answered it.

What er you talkin bout???I think ya'll got yer wires crossed joeybob
thars a difference between a SMART remark (which mine aint)
and a truthfull statement (which mine is)
He specifically asked this quote
" Anyone have frequencies for any tow trucks, garbage trucks, fast food drive throughs, etc in bergen county." ...........NOT NY
If he do what you say he won't ever hear BERGEN cuz you gonna get him to plug in NYPD en NYFD en he be a locked up on BROOKLYN,BRONX,MANHATTAN etc etc.
and as a administrator type person of a scanner site ya should know better in my opion.
Thats the truth of the matter. So yer suggestion was a BAD one truthfully speakin.

Besides, you can always delete and re-program when it suits your fancy. With the software that's out there, it's easier than you might think. Depending on where I am going to be around the nation, (and a few places in Europe and Far East) I keep a CD of my various interests with me along with my cable. Tain't no big deal anymore.

Just ignore the above rants. Besides the occasional giggle, it's not worth the effort to figure out the real issues or personalities (or lack of) involved. Selective reading skills are useful in website sanity self-preservation. The database associated with this site is a good one for Bergen County. For New York City, try N2NOV.net for the most up to date list of what's happening in the big, somewhat tarnished, apple. Charlie does a nice job there. We all have our favorite frequencies throughout the five boroughs. Listen and choose your own personal favorites. Personally, NYPD Lower Manhattan precincts and the FDNY borough frequencies are on my hit parade. I keep them in one bank so I can selectively listen. If you have any questions about these, give me a pm and I'll try to help. Enjoy

I have to say that Bergen County has a lot to listen to besides the police/fire/ems stuff. We have own own airport which has just as much radio traffic as Newark, there are three major shopping malls that have a bountiful supply of monitoring oppritun ities. Some of the most active ham radio repeaters durin commuting hours happen to be located in Bergen County. Of course this information and more is located on Bergenscanner.com. The link is below!
