Person is armed (with weapon). What is your signal/code?

Cobb County - Person is 69 with gun/knife/tire iron/frozen squirrel. Yup! In Atlanta, they put out a call that a person was armed with a frozen squirrel!

Frozen squirl? What.... The.... Effff????

Lol. In Boulder County, CO, The call usually comes is as a menacing or something along those lines, then the person is described in plain talk.

So to answer your question, here is plain talk.

b7spectra, I've seen a few of these questions, are you just curious?

Just curious to see what other agencies use. I lived in Florida back in the 60/70's, and when I moved to Georgia, I had to relearn all my signal/codes!

417 is man with a gun, as most ca codes this one is derived from the penal code for the same thing.

From what I can tell, most of the agencies in the Houston Metro area don't even use 10 codes anymore. Or if they do it is a rarity.

Don is correct about the CA penal code. I think carrying a gun would be a 12025. When its in your hand it becomes a 417. If you point it at someone it becomes a 245.

True penal code wise, but radio codes they usuallly just use 417, probably cause it's short, sweet, and simple.

Broward County, FL: Signal zero means "armed".

FYI..I'ver been all over Florida and the greater majority of counties use Signal Zero for armed.

In Orange County, NY...
10-34 Shots fired
10-35 Person with a gun
10-36 Person with a weapon

Around here the call is put out as a "person armed with a (name of weapon here)."

The only exception is when an individual is armed with a firearm, then that individual is described as being "10-32."

Person Armed

The local PD's state "party has/used weapon" when the item is a knife, club and such. If it is a firearm the code used is 10-47, "party used a 10-47, subject known to carry 47".

Around here. Flagged Alfa for someone suspected of or known to carry weapons.
If actually observed with a weapon generally called out in the clear (ie: HE HAS A GUN/KNIFE ect).
