Does this mean that when/if I move out there I'll be the only guy with a scanner?
lol. I think that a heard of sheep out there recently put up a TRS to keep track of the wolves. Complete with MDT's ... :)

Shame on you crayon. That was really ba-a-a-a-a-d.

Oh well.. Moving from a metro of 4+million to a city of 60,000 I guess that's to be expected. It will still be a nice change from the hustle and bustle of Phoenix.

There actually *are* quite a few `scannists' out and about. It is just that we don't actually make it a `lifestyle' as such since we've actually got quite a few other things we also do. {GRIN!} On top of that there really aren't all that many frequencies we have to listen to. What with only about 500,000 people in the *whole* state it doesn't really take all that much. Even with the proposed `WyoNet' project there won't be all that much of an increase in `need to listen' freqs. (I just finished putting the `finishing touches' on programming one of my scanners for use on a Real Estate `search' trip I'm going to be heading out on later on and I was able to put *everything* I am expecting to need into *1* *200* channel scanner. [I'll probably actually end up taking 2 scanners along so that I can maybe listen to a few things around Cheyenne and the Casper/Natrona County TRS.] I expect that when we finally get moved and settled in I'll be able to set up my radios such that I won't be having to be choosing between listening to PD or SO transmissions over FD / EMT or R&B/DOT transmissions. Instead I will be able to have a radio devoted to each along with being able to also listen to things like MilAir ETC..) Quite frankly I expect that my `listening' will be a *lot* easier and relaxed than it is down here in Colorado these days.

And the Wolves have a TETRA TRS, so that the sheep with trunktracker scanners can't find out their locations.

It has it's moments. Occasionally it can get real interesting. There are actually a lot of scanner geeks but it seems to be a secret. If you ever find one sometimes you can even get them to talk. Note the soetimes. Ham radio seems to come and go. Internet has taken it's toll there also.

I used to live in Casper and I will say one thing. There are ALOT better things to do in Wyoming other then scanning.

Ahh the days of zipping up Casper Mtn in the ol Z-28 :D Man I miss that state :(

Well I've Been A scanner freak since 1990 and a computer geek since 1998 and despite years of searching the engines for frequencies, I only discovered RR a couple months ago ( very elated that I did) BUT maybe its just that the scanning %age of the 500,000+ residents of WY just haven't found this yet... :?

Hello back to you. Amen to Radioreference. Just what we needed, there is a lot of info out there if we can find it and they made it a lot easier.
