I am actually in the Mardi Gras right now. Gotta love the deals they keep giving me!
But I digress, initially I thought the THs were going to be the 150 series. That is what was used in port at Port Canaveral, or so I think. Now underway they are using the same TG series as the Celebration, the 140 series. Doesn’t make sense how/why they would do this.
Any thoughts?
And it is MotoTRBO.

they maybe the same TG's but likely different freqs as well as Color Codes which make them unique to that ship/fleet

So far on the Mardi Gras these are where the chatter has been. Most in English but a little in what sounds like Italian. That makes sense as the captain and most of the navigational crew is the same.
157.5250 CC 2 143, 145, 146, 148
157.5375 CC 1 142, 148
157.5500 CC 2 142, 146, 148
157.5625 CC 1 142, 145, 148
157.5750 CC 3 149, 150
157.5875 CC ? 142

Plain old MOTO TRBO (DMR) and not Capacity Plus, then?

That's why a dongle and dsdplus are nice to have on hand.
Not sure what that solves. My cabin has one 110 outlet. It has many usb outlets do my SDS100 stays plugged in and on the whole time. My scanner received DMR/CAP+/MotoTRBO or whatever else you want to call it. I just don’t know what the difference between them are.
I did save the recordings too if someone wanted to analyze them further. I think they’d need a SDS100/200 to read the data.

Dongle plugs into usb port on laptop and when you tune to a digital freq it instantly displays the digital mode and any other data sent over the freq and or control channel. So if you land on a P25 trunked system it will give you any neighbor sites along with their current control channel.

If you listen to an idle channel in analog mode, is there a periodic "idle" transmission? How long is it and how often? IIRC, some Cap+ is configured to do this, fairly often.

You might be best to take notes and transcribe them later vs posting while on the ship/cruise.
I suspect (altho I could be wrong) you means 457 UHF frequencies and not 157 VHF

There is a larger issue here. Carnivival cruise? Not a chance! Germ frap. Overchargings for everything. Why would anyone want to put themselves in such a prison when much better vacations options exist? Okay, different thread is in order.

I like Carnival over any other cruise line. As far as overcharging Carnival is the least offensive. I will never return to Norwegian that is for sure. Talk about over charging!
I did 6 cruises the past 4 months. 4 on Carnival were for $100 each, 4, 5, 7 and 7 days each. And I am a solo person. IMO that is NOT overcharging.

I've seen the advertising where I live for those kind of cruises and it's usually $1,000 or more. Did a zero drop off or do they also have other options like $100 as an entrance fee and bring your own chair to sit in, and a cabin costs extra as well as all meals, drinks, shows and sightseeing?

Nope $100. When you live in Florida they are willing to fill the ships at any cost. And I took advantage this winter. Cruise ships leave every day of the week and they keep building bigger and bigger ships with over 6000 guests. Plus the he economy is starting to roll over. I’m off to traveling the US in a motorhome in a few weeks so my cruising is over until I return in Nov-Dec.

Here is what I found on the Celebration using DSD. All freqs were verified active at sea without other ships around.

Security and public area housekeeping noted carrying Moto DMR radios.
A smaller, likely non DMR, radio was noted in a restaurant.
Despite the no radio policy, a number of passengers were carrying FRS style radios openly.
If you are taking the current route (Miami-Amber Cove-San Juan-St Thomas), you want to be on the starboard side, and you will receive signals from Cuba, Puerto Rico, and St Thomas.
