To clarify:Not sure I follow… if I understand you correctly the file we can pull from RR using Sentinel won’t allow for appending? What about AFTER it’s read into ProScan or ARC PRO? Are there certain parameters missing in the Sentinel software? That’s not my experience… yet anyway…
Yes, you can append from the master database (in Sentinel) to a Favorites list.
Systems that you cannot append, via Sentinel, would include new systems (or updates to an existing system) that were entered into the RR Database after the date of the current database version in Sentinel.
Also not in Sentinel are trunked systems that do not have any talkgroups as yet. Either none have been submitted, or the submission either has not yet been processed, or the update occurred after the last RR database update for the file in Sentinel.
System types that cannot be successfully monitored would also not be in the Sentinel database; examples include Open Sky & LTR Passport, among others.
What I was trying to point out is that while you can append most systems via Sentinel, you cannot be as selective as compared to what can be done with software & a Premium Subscription. You can, if careful, append a single channel (talkgroup or conventional channel frequency) to a list. An appended conventional channel would be on the selected Favorites list, inside a Department, which would be contained in a system with the name as it is listed in the database.
For trunked systems, if you append any specific talkgroup (or Department) from the system, Sentinel will also append all of the sites related to that system. If it's a local, one site, system, that is easy to accomplish. But, if it is a larger regional, or statewide system, with multiple sites, then all of the sites would be appended even if you carefully selected & tried to append a single talkgroup. That can be especially confusing to a newer user when all of the sites show up on their appended system. Many of them try to trim out the excess sites, and often end up deleting the site(s) needed to hear the talkgroups selected, which can bring up that familiar "nothing to scan" message, or that system is never scanned, though other correctly configured systems in the Favorites list would be monitored.
Using software, such as ProScan or ARC536, along with a Premium Subscription, you can import only the talkgroup(s) and site(s) that you actually want,
