CNN does not have news choppers. This is why they use feeds from local ( mostly ABC ) stations. I do not watch CNN or sky news ever. But this 7 chan mux is unedited has no voice over or anything. They do have reporters from these networks waiting outside courtrooms and their reports are slanted but there are 6 other channels and whats on them changes constantly. You can get into the FTA hobby for under $300. Especially 11.7 to 12.2 GHz [ Ku] which uses a much smaller dish typ. 1 meter.
Thanks for that, I am retired news media, when I did it, it didn't resemble anything like it is today and like I say I have not watched CNN at all in decades, I'm thinking maybe around 911.

I was always a honest, non-biased, non-political, professional journalist who followed the rules that protected the integrity of the craft so I would think you understand why I would never watch CNN, I don't read the New York Times or the Washington Post either LOL, but thank you for the information, that's interesting.

I appreciate your comments but it would be totally off topic to speak of it here, but you are correct, if things unfortunately turn out the way I think they're going to next month there definitely is no model for the financial situation our country will be in. Buckle up. When it comes to civil unrest we haven't seen anything yet but this is off topic for this thread and I for one ask that we not continue in this direction.😉
It's too bad there isn't a "Doom and Gloom" forum.

:)Thanks, Joel:)

This is all a lot if information to process...
So Far I have

News chopper air to air 135.875, 135.975, and 123.025
FTA sat feed for news
FRS/GMRS/CB
Local ham repeaters
Sheriffs Dispatch (Northern Virginia)
Transit / School buses (it's such a physically large area that all transport likely wont be shut all down.)
Default CCR frequencies
ADS-B
OTA TV (sometimes the local broadcast channels not on cable get completely different stories).
AM/FM radios

I doubt I can monitor all of these at once, in addition to the internet news.

Thanks
Joel

I see that news choppers are mentioned here. May i suggest getting a small Ku band FTA satellite dish? Typ just 40" and the receivers are dirt cheap approx $40. Park the dish on the 7 channel CNN mux. They often have live unedited feeds of every riot plane crash forest fire with.aircraft dumping water and chemicals. Most of the feeds are from ABC or other alphabet soup networks local choppers. Sometimes if they dont like the candidate they will orbit overhead outside political events looking for trouble so they can do their slanted coverage. You can watch whats happening.

I'm intrigued by this.

Can you post a parts list and software needed? I suppose one of those RTL-SDR blog Sat antennas won't work, right?

Thanks.

About CNN and whatnot, I started out with CNN way back in high school (I'm now 44). Then during that time MSNBC came out so I'd flip between the two. Then I got tired of yelling at the TV (It's what I do) so I said, "lets give this new FoxNews channel a try." I watched their primetime line up and weighed the opinions and professionalism and liked what I saw. So for years I stuck with them. When COVID hit I just got sick and tired of seeing all the pretty graphics of the numbers of dead and the sick and all the rest so I in large part don't watch much news at all. Been a great breath of fresh air and I can now step back and see how it's only some 5 corporations that are running the show so to speak, instituting menticide and in turn influencing the public on how to vote. Today I find myself watching the contributors themselves on the various streaming platforms up to and including YouStupid (YouTube) Rumble and Odysee.

I'm only posting this because I find it absolutely amazing how the media has transformed and how now-a-days you can just watch the commentator that used to have a show on one of the big networks. Catherine Herridge for example. Damn good reporter - and I respect her 5th Amendment stance being tested by a judge right now...
