Whatcom County

Well in Whatcom County we are still behind the eightball. We have not moved to a trunking system and still use a combo og VHF/UHF Freq's. Here is a short list.

Bellingham Police:
453.225 -Dispatch and patrol units. This is a repeater system.
155.070- Records and aux. units. Simplex.

Whatcom County Sheriff:
453.325- Dispatch and patrol units including Ferndale and Everson. This is a repeater system.
155.610- Aux units and Tribial Police Lummi/Noosack. Simplex.

155.755-WSP Dispatch and patrol units. This is a repeater system.
154.935- Car to Car. Simplex.

154.430- Fire Dispatch for all agencies.
154.340, 154.220, 154.325, and 153.605 are all the different fire responce freq's used. All are simplex except for the 153.605 freq. which is a repeater.

163.625 Border Patrol, US Customs and other agencies who are now all Homeland Security. The also dispatch for the samll border cities which include Blaine, Lynden, and Sumas police. This is a wide range repeater.

Whatcom County does have a simple 800 system but is only used on a small scale by the Belingham Fire and the Marietta Fire admin. people.

Hope that answers some of your questions

I see there is a new Whatcom County trunk listed for Fire & Rescue (FARS). Anyone have any more news on this. It is finally going ahead?

Sorry

Perhaps you did not see the non trunked portion of my post, plus that freq shows Portland Oregon, It would be a cold day in hell before I could get that signal (from Portland) from Vancouver BC Canada
I realize Vancouver WA is across the river from Portland OR , but I am in Canada and that freq is non trunked (as best as I can see)

Is it a government canada frequency? Either that or the DOJ has been getting up this direction.

10-10 on that (Negative)

It is definately US in origin because in Canada we don't use that freq 170.71-170.72-170.73 would be assigned not .725
Also overheard OMAHA callsign and talking about liasing with Canadian counterparts etc, definite American accents , no eh or hoser eh present !!

When I lived in Bellingham that was a US Customs channel before all the agencies joined together. Used to be used for operations like surveillance and air and marine ops. Not surprising it would be encrypted now.

Omaha is the callsign that Homeland Security uses for their helicopter. (white one, not the blackhawk) They used it during ski2sea to communicate with SAR and race operations.

I doubt it....People keep throwing around numbers like 20 million dollars. The smaller fire districts in the area couldn't even begin to talk about financing the purchase of new radios. Unless homeland security wants to come in and buy us all new radios (not in this economy), it will never happen.
