Unit1....."Unit 1 to unit 2"
Unit2....."Go ahead"
Unit1....." Can you switch over?"
Unit2....."10-4 switching"
Then I hear nothing.................

Where did they go?

I'm in Montgomery County and have all the codes programed in from RR via ARC246 software.

Without knowing specifically which agency you are trying to monitor, there are several different possibilities. The most probable is that if their system used to be simplex and they are using a repeater now, they switched back over to their old simplex frequency. I know of 4 counties in my immediate area who do this: Perry County (IN), Spencer County (IN), Hancock County (KY) and Daviess County (KY).

It's possible that some the listings for your area may be incomplete due to the lack of user feedback. My best advice is to put your scanner in its search mode, when they do this, to try to find where they're hiding at.

I hope this was of some help to you and good luck!

Sincerely,
David H.

Also, look the agency up in the FCC database. They'll give you every one of their Freq's. Program them all in and sit back and wait to see which one it is :) Then, submit to the DB so others can benefit.

I'm watching all the above.
The one that keeps "switching over" is 155.310

I'm listening to that one on the BC170 and have the BC246T scanning ,or so I think I do as I'm still pretty new to the newer hi-tech scanners.
If the whole trunking thing is involved then that may be where my problem is as I'm still trying to understand this and nothing is mentioned about trunking in my area.

if the channel they are switching to is a simplex frequency, you will have to be pretty close to hear them

That's Mount Sterling PD/Montgomery Sheriff.... they are probably switching to their talk-around freq which is simplex--as Trashman pointed out you will need to be pretty close to hear them on that.... their repeater input freq (154.740) is their talk-around...
