One interesting thing Gary mentioned in our small gathering was the change he noticed to the UCAN webpage. He raised the question;

Where is Taylorsville PD?
http://www.ci.taylorsville.ut.us/police.main.html

If you care or remember they used to contract police service from the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office. On 1 April 2005, I would have picked a better day I think, they formed their own PD, yet we do not have them listed in the database. As Gary has found they are now listed as a UCAN user with 110 radios. Is it a separate system like Murray that contracts with UCAN for support or are they on the UCAN? Another great mystery to solve.

They have been using one of the Sheriffs Office Special Services ID's. I cannot remember off hand which one. If you listen to it the T-PD Units go by "Tango" callsign. I will try to find which one it is. It is a bit tricky since "Tango" is used often by multiple agencies. They way I determined it was by addresses that I have heard on there.

Seems that alot of the agencies use Tango as a Traffic unit, like the UHP Incident Management Vehicles, or SL County and SL City have certain units desiganted to respond to just traffic issues.

That goes in line with something I have wondered. Who are the PD units using:

23264 Multi Agency Service
23296 VECC PD Service

If it's a SL County Sheriff's channel, Request 1 (352) gets a lot of hits.

Gary also said that he had noticed a couple of TGIDs that were getting quite a few hits and, as I recall, they were not identified TGs. He told me he would send them to me and I will monitor them to see if I can determine who they are. (I hope he doesn't forget.)

As I remember, when the SLSO was being contracted to provide coverage, the cars were actually called "Taylorsville xx" just like the Holladay, Mill Creek, and Herriman cars are now. Their dedicated area assignment was/is part of their call number if it is an incorporated area. (Course, I could be wrong.)

I always thought that these were for non-emergency cross-talk between agencies. (Course, I could be wrong.)

There were a few I had but, after looking at them, most fall in the number range of Utah County agencies and I am pretty sure I got them when I was running Trunker at work. That would most likely rule them out.

As Viper Stated earlier, Taylorsville PD moved to the SLSO Special Services channel (TG-00288) with the canyon units. Taylorsville is using "Tango" callsigns and the canyon units are using the "600" series callsigns. The reason for them moving from Oquirrh channel to Special Services was to relieve the overload of radio traffic on Oquirrh.

23264 is VECC PD Service Ch 1. Used by the following PDs: West Jordan, South Jordan, South Salt Lake, Midvale, Sandy and Draper.

West Valley has their own service TG 23232.

23296 VECC PD Service Ch 2. Not sure the last time I heard it used. I haven't looked at the Trunker log but I imagine it gets used when Ch 1 is busy.

I think these are all correct but I haven't listened to service for awhile so there might be some changes.

I have confirmed that TG 22912 is "Car to Car" for Taylorsville PD.

P.S. Trunker sure comes in handy. But you do have to be quick.
